It’s twice the opportunities for students with JOBFEST running alongside the NZ Careers Expo in Auckland this month.
In previous years the JOBFEST has operated in a separate location and at different times from the Careers Expo. This reflects the different vision and focus of each: Jobfest looks to place young people directly into (generally local) work opportunities, while the Careers Expo is more about engaging students into training or study, and even gap year programmes.
Jobfest last year attracted almost 2000 students and youth job seekers, many armed with CVs, best outfits and lots of enthusiasm to find a good job.
The Careers Expo has been running for almost 25 years, it’s purpose being to allow students to explore courses and options they are interested in and to use the day as the base for more research.
Jobfest only open on the one day
While the NZ Careers Expo in Auckland will be a 3-day event open to visitors from Thursday to Saturday, the JOBFEST will operate for one day only on the Thursday 24th May. Opening times are 10am-3pm, and again at 5-7pm.
The events are timed to be in the annual Youth Week
Both events are in the ASB Showgrounds, but in different places. Career Expo exhibitors will occupy Hall 2,on the ground floor from Thursday to Saturday, with JOBFEST employers located upstairs on Thursday only, including the 5pm – 7pm session.
Jobfest – you will need to register
While you can just rock up to the Careers Expo as part of a school group or with your parents, you will actually need to register to be part of Jobfest.
Youth Connections who organise Jobfest in Auckland suggest that you show up CV ready, interview ready and dressed to impress! If you're not sure about any of these, just send them a quick message on Facebook and they’ll help you out.
