A new University of Waikato campus opening next year in Tauranga means Bay of Plenty students have more options and pathways open, without having to leave home.
Initially the campus will cater for 1500 students, and will offer the following undergraduate programmes in Tauranga from 2019:
- Bachelor of Arts
- Bachelor of Business
- Bachelor of Engineering with Honours
- Bachelor of Laws
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Social Sciences
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Bachelor of Teaching
- Diploma in Law (moving to undergraduate law in Hamilton)
Waikato’s new central Tauranga campus will be part of an educational precinct, connected to other regional tertiary providers Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology and Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.
Students can potentially do foundation or bridging courses at these partnership institutions on their way to degree level study at Waikato’s Tauranga campus.
The students attending the new Tauranga campus will have the same access to lectures, course materials and teaching staff as Hamilton-based students. Facilities will be the same (including the obligitory atrium) however hostel accommodation is not available in Tauranga as it is in Hamilton.
